Highlights in History - August 30 - September 1
Features talks, tours, demonstrations, and living history programs about Fort Scott’s role in the pivotal events of American History in the place where it happened! Visitors have the opportunity to learn more about the role of the Dragoons and Infantry in policing in the permanent Indian frontier and in our nation’s westward expansion or explore the time known as “Bleeding Kansas” and the events and impacts of the Civil War that followed. Fort Scott Fly-In 2014, 7:00am - 1:00pm at the Fort Scott Airport. Presentation by aerobatic pilot, Randy Harris, airplane rides for young people, and aircraft on display. Kiwanis Club serving biscuits and gravy 7-10am. Musical entertainment all morning.
