Fort Scott's Norm Conard, Executive Director of the Lowell Milken Center and 2012 Kansas of the Year, will be the presenter at the Pittsburg Chamber First Friday Breakfast. Conard's presentation will focus on the Lowell Milken Center and the internationally recognized Life in a Jar project, the breakfast will be held at the Wilkinson Alumni Center, 401 E. Ford in Pittsburg. The breakfast will begin at 7:30 a.m. Cost for the event is only $10 which includes a full buffet breakfast. RSVPs are required and may be made by calling the Pittsburg Chamber at 620.231.1000 by 5 p.m. on April 30.

44th annual Fort Scott Community College Elementary Music Festival, instrumental solos and ensembles, bands and orchestras will be adjudicated. The Music Festivals are open to any public or private school, studio or home school students through grade 8. There is no required list or levels. All students at all levels are welcome. Directors and teachers may choose music that they feel is of the appropriate level for their students. FSCC Rodeo team hosts "The Clash", 8pm, Arnold Arena, back by popular demand The Clash features FSCC Rodeo Team members competing against local professionals. The pros include Jason Arndt, Bo Casper, Dusty Elkington, Glen Smith, Cali Griffin, Stewart Gulager, Katie VanDiest, and Clayton Zibell. During the event there will also be a silent auction and a raffle for a horse. Ticket prices are $8 for adults, $5 for FSCC students, $3 for children 6-12, free for children under 5, and $25 for a family. Proceeds will be used for the new Rodeo Practice Facility.
